Stated Privacy Policy

CU’s PRIVACY POLICY

Competition University (CU) is owned and operated by Custom Resources, LLC. CU is an online learning management system for DECA & FBLA competitive event prep and other educational purposes deemed beneficial for use by teachers purchasing access to CU for their students’ use. Students may access CU through an individual account or students and teachers may access CU through their school’s account.

This Privacy Policy describes CU’s privacy practices in relation to information that we collect through www.competitionuniversity.com or through our processes to bulk upload and enroll students through a school account.

Please be assured we operate with strict compliance to matters regarding the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.

THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW IT IS USED

The following Personal Information is collected from Instructors or students who are individually registering for free or a paid account: First Name, Last Name, Email, City, Country. Phone is optional and address is optional once an account is established.

The following Personal Teacher Information is collected from Instructors who have purchased use of CU:  First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone, School, and Address.

The following Personal Information is collected from teachers for the students they will be enrolling in CU via school enrollment: First Name & Last Name.

This information is not shared with third parties. Students of any age cannot share their profiles publicly outside of CU.

Custom Resources, LLC, uses Remote Learner, LLC, as its server and web site host. For the purpose of improving and enhancing its service, CU collects and analyzes data on how the resources and activities are used in the aggregate (how groups of people use CU).

As true of most Web Sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, and date/time stamp. Information on individual usage of the system, including but not limited to individual IP addresses, may be analyzed on a case-specific basis to resolve a technical difficulty or to assist in resolving or investigating any misuse of the service; also, such individual usage information may be furnished to your school if your school requests such information to assist in the investigation of fraudulent, abusive, or criminal activity or any other use of CU that violates your school's rules or policies.

We never collect or maintain information at our website from those we actually know are under 13. The teacher who is the primary school’s account holder is responsible for assuring that each student granted access to CU is over the age of 13. Anyone identified as being under age 13 will be restricted from accessing or using any of our products or services that require them to enter personally identifiable information, and they will not be permitted to purchase any of our products or services. They may access portions of our websites without additional personally identifiable information being collected.

We may periodically update our Privacy Policy. Your continued use of our website or content products will indicate your acceptance of any changes we do make. Our most current Privacy Policy will always be available for your review here.  We will provide prominent notice before making material changes to our privacy policy for school services.

If you click on a link to a third-party site within CU, you will leave CU and be redirected to the site you selected. Because we cannot control the activities of third parties, we cannot accept responsibility for any use of your personally identifiable information by such third parties, and we cannot guarantee that they will adhere to the same privacy practices as CU. We encourage you to review the privacy statements of any other service provider from whom you request services. If you visit a third-party website that is linked to the CU site, you should read that site's privacy statement before providing any personally identifiable information.
